6 Days - Bangkok, Samut Songkhram, Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya

Day 1 - Arrival Bangkok

Arrive at Bangkok airport and transfer to your Hotel. Overnight at CENTURY PARK HOTEL (superior) or similar.

Day 2 - Bangkok

Day at leisure.

Optional half day city tour: Head to the grand palace which is one of the most beautiful samples of an ancient Siamese court. it used to be the residence of the kings of Thailand. Here you will see palaces which were used for different occasions: the funeral palace, the reception palace, the throne hall, the coronation hall, the royal guest house, and the beautiful emerald Buddha temple. Continue to Wat Po, the most extensive temple in Bangkok with its colossal reclining Buddha and the Chedis of the kings.

Optional half day Chinatown tour: in the early evening, visit the flower market overflowing with rare orchids and marigolds. continue to stroll through Yaowarat, the world’s largest Chinatown to see hundreds of busy vendor stalls. you can try some of the local Thai-Chinese delicacies.

Day 3 - Bangkok – Samutsongkhram – Kanchanaburi

Early morning leave Bangkok for Samut Songkhram province. Visit the rural Maeklong Railway market. The nickname of the market, talad rom hoop, roughly translates to closing an umbrella. As the name maeklong railway market suggests, part of the market is situated on the railway track. Every morning till late in the evening, this market springs to life selling a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, snacks, and clothes and accessories. however, what makes the market unique and exciting is the fact that a train will run through the market 8 times a day, every day of the week. As soon as the siren signals the arrival of the train, everything stops. shoppers will hop off the tracks, and vendors will quickly pack their goods and prepare to close/ retract their awnings from the train track as the train passes by.

Continue to Damnoen Saduak floating market, a very attractive place to see the old style and traditional way of selling and buying fruits, vegetables, etc., from small boats. You will also see traditional Thai houses, and their daily life.

Later proceed to Kanchanaburi and check in at River Kwai Resotel (Jungle chalet) or similar. Overnight at the hotel. (B)

Day 4 - Kanchanaburi

Proceed to the city and visit famous River Kwai bridge. Continue to take a train ride on the death railway through magnificent scenery and passing over the original wooden viaduct built by the Japanese using allied prisoners of war during world war II. At the death railway museum, you'll learn more about life in the camps, the building of the bridge, and the more than 8,000 POWs who died during construction.

Finally, visit the hell fire pass memorial. Upon arrival, learn about the moving story of WW II from the most comprehensive exhibition of the memorial’s museum. then take a walk downhill for a site visit to glimpse the death railway remnants and the infamous ‘cutting site’, the namesake of hellfire pass, hidden in the bamboo forest hills overlooking the river Kwai valley. Overnight at the hotel. (B)

Day 5 - Kanchanaburi - Ayuthaya

Proceed to Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage site. King u-thong founded the city in 1350 as the capital of his kingdom of Siam. By 1700, Ayutthaya had as many as a million inhabitants, making it one of the largest cities in the world at the time. But in 1767, the city was invaded and destroyed by the Burmese army. Magnificent ruins of the old city still remain, some having been restored. Exciting archaeological excavations are still proceeding at many sites in the area.

Visit Wat Mahathat and Wat Pra Sri Sanphet. Your guide will explain you about the history of Ayutthaya with its temples and kings.

Continue to Wat Chai Wattanaram. This temple was constructed in 1630 by king Prasat thong as a memorial of his mother’s residence in that area. Arrive and check in at Krungsri River (standard) or similar. (B)

Day 6 - Ayuthaya – Bangkok drive/ Depart Bangkok

Return to Bangkok hotel in town or Airport. (B)
